Great Midweek Syrah

Leyda, Costero Syrah, 2008, Leyda Valley, Chile.

Lovely ripe aromas of blackcurrant jam, dark cherries and some nice violet and pastel aromas coming through. You can also get some soft ripe red summer berries too. Smooth texture full of spicy pepper flavours. The vibrant palate really brings your mouth alive. Tight, grippy tannins. This wine is still very young and will be even better in a few years. The blackcurrant and black cherry come across on the palate with a really peppery edge. Lovely strong length to this wine. I would be very interested to see how this wine develops over time. 4/5 (14% abv)
